What is a Mobile Network Code (MNC)?

The Mobile Network Code (MNC) is a three digit code (North America) or two digit code (European Standard) that is used in combination with a Mobile Country Code (MCC) to identify a mobile network operator uniquely. The MCC-MNC tuple is stored within the first five or six digits of the IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity).
